today was the first time I rowed in a K1 event and that was probably the last.
Had a Friendly with MJC and CJC this afternoon. Training as per normal in the morning. Toot and I decided to try out a new seating position this morning. Her in front, and me behind. Hmmm, don't worry toot, I think there's something wrong with Christmas' rudder. I know you tried your best in keeping the boat straight. 2km timing was kinda shocking (in a bad way) cos' the both of us felt as if we were gliding etc etc. ohwell, doesn't matter. We shall try this out another day!
Got up around 10:10am and started to run around settling stuff for the Friendly whilst the girls went for their jog. STRESSS. So many nitty gritty things to settle, so ran around like a mad woman -_-" So anw, minqi didn't go for training and consequently couldn't race in the friendly either. So my dear teammates had this wonderful idea for me to take her place. mmmhmmm. Haven't touched a K1 since...... 2 months back? oh, I remember. That was when jiaolian asked me to try out eugene's red regatha. yeah, that was the last time.
Went out into the pond on meera's AK (thanks for allowing me to use your AK meera) Unstable, but I just tried to do my usual strokes. Water felt good, the wind was working for me (: Nice feeling to be rowing out there alone once in a while.
Went into the lane.... Mr. Eugene Ng was the starter -_-" hoho. START WITHIN TEN SECONDS.... AHHHHHHH! (he said GO by the way) bernice heng cleverly malu-ed herself by tipping dangerously to the right. FREAK. Survival instincts took over, brace! brace! stupid eugene was laughing at me lahh and strangely, I was also laughing at myself. omg, embarrassing. By then selene was almost 1 buoy ahead of me?? -faints
alright, so I managed to start the boat, focused on the finishing line and did long pulls. Well, thankfully toot and I have been quite unstable for the past few trainings (not a good thing actually) so in a way my body has learned how to counter all the funny tilts and my arms just went on auto-pilot. Managed a rather decent end "burst" I think, pumped a little harder and up-ed the frequency a bit? yepp :D nice experience.
I'm quite weary of watching the video though.........
1 friendly down. Hopefully we'll be able to organize a few more in future. Good exposure. Kudos to the J1s who rowed: geraldine, xiner, vivian and chermaine (: a job well done. Loads to improve on, but they showed courage out there in the lanes. No tilt could defeat them, eye on the goal and all the way (:
gotta treat my face to a soothing hydrolyzing mask now (: sunburnt.
byee!
